After 36 years teaching at Delaware Valley College now Delaware Valley University, Larry Hepner has retired. Larry taught Soils; Soil Fertility; Watershed Management; Ag Waste Management and Sustainable Ag. The traditional agronomy Department at DVU was split between two other Departments two years ago. The Soils group merged with the Landscape Architecture Department. Larry’s position has been posted on the DVU web site. I have asked them to advertise the position in the SSSA publication CSA NEWS but that may not happen. Therefore, you may want to pass this email onto any of your current or former graduate students who may be interested in the position. Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Sciences (062415/10016/35)

This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position in the Landscape Architecture and Environmental Sciences Department to begin the spring 2016 semester. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: teaching Soil Sciences, Watershed Management and other Environmental Science courses focusing primarily on soils, water and land use; collaborating with other faculty members to design and implement curricular updates relating to the core vision of the Department; teaching at various levels within the discipline; remaining current in the field; recruiting and advising students as needed; posting and maintaining regular office hours; serving on faculty committees as assigned or elected; participating in professional development activities; attending regularly scheduled faculty meetings, department meetings, and other required meetings; assisting with departmental needs and development including outcomes assessment.
Ideal candidate shall hold a Ph.D. with specialization in Environmental Science, Soil Science or related fields. Additional preferred experience includes teaching introductory courses at the undergraduate level, including, but not limited to, Environmental Sciences and Soils; evidence of successful scholarship; excellent oral and written communication skills; commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring; ongoing commitment to faculty development and scholarship. Experience with online delivery of courses and/or a professional degree in landscape architecture are favorable. Must successfully pass a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Background Check as well as corresponding clearances from the successful candidate’s state of residence, if not Pennsylvania.
